Neal powers Broncos softball past Brewer Wednesday night at Coffin Field

BREWER _ The Brewer Witches hosted Hampden Academy in a night time matchup with the visiting Broncos taking home a 9-2 win.  Hampden's Cam Neal with a three run home run in the top of the first was all the Broncos needed to take home the 9-2 win over Brewer. A three run home run in the top of the first from Cam Neal, and after the first inning the pitching and fundamentals came into play allowing the Broncos to capture another win. FARMINGTON – The Broncos softball team traveled to Farmington Monday, May 23, to take on the Mt. Blue Cougars, bringing home a 13-2 win.  Hampden's Danielle Masterson had four RBI's in Monday's game. As usual in the circle Hampden was in charge with Charlee Chute pitching her second consecutive game and picking up her second win in a row. Chute pitched five innings in the mercy rule matchup. She allowed two runs, on three hits and two walks while striking out nine. HAMPDEN – The Hampden softball team hosted Hermon in a cross-class game Friday afternoon with the Class A Broncos taking a 9-3 win over Class B Hawks.  Hampden's Meaghan Delahanty is seeing the ball like it was a beachball the past few games. Tonight was a three double 4-for-4 performance at the plate. (Photo by Ron Hawkes/MSR) Hampden's Meaghan Delahanty has been dangerous with the bat as of late and today was no different with a 4-for-4 day at the plate, three doubles, single, two runs and two RBIs. Not a bad day at the plate.  The rest of the offense came from Maya Brown (single, run); Allee Wellman (single); Danielle Masterson (3 singles, 2 runs, RBI), Cam Neal (double, run, walk); Charlee Chute (single, 2 runs, RBI); Callie Small (2 singles, run, RBI); Emily Bishop (RBI); and Brooklyn Fortin (double, single, 3 RBIs). BANGOR – The Rams hosted the Broncos Wednesday night in a game under the lights at Bangor High School. When the dust settled the game was a 2-0 win for the visitors.  Danielle Masterson is having an outstanding season in the circle for the Hamden Academy Broncos. (Photo by Ron Hawkes/MSR)  Danielle  Masterson was on fire in the circle for the Broncos pitching seven innings allowing one hit and one walk while striking out 19 of the 21 outs in the game. Hampden goes to 8-3 with the win and now sits in fourth place in Class A North in the Heal Point Standings. Bangor falls to 7-4, but maintains the number two spot in the Heal Point Standings. No. 1 is Brunswick with a 10-0 record. John Bapst slips past Hermon 9-8 in softball action Wednesday

BANGOR – The Crusaders picked up a Heal Point worthy win over Hermon, 9-8, Wednesday at the Union St Soccer and Softball complex.  Hermon's Olivia Johnson takes a cut during Wednesday's game in Bangor against John Bapst. With the win John Bapst goes to 6-6 on the season and sits in 10th place in the Heal Point Standings. Hermon falls to 6-4 and still sits in fourth place in the Heal Point Standings.  This was a battle all the way for both teams. Visiting Hermon got on the scoreboard first with three runs top of the first. The Hawks added another in the second, third, fourth, fifth and seventh falling just a run shy of the tie. John Bapst tied the game in the bottom of the second when they plated four runs. Two offensive teams battle to a 13-12 boys lacrosse match

BREWER – The Brewer boys lacrosse team hosted cross town rival Bangor in their second matchup of the season. It was a hard fought back and forth battle that in the end was won by Brewer 13-12. This was the second win of the season for Class B Brewer boys over Class A Bangor. On April 25, the Witches took home a 7-6 win over the Rams.  Brewer goes to 5-2 on the season with the win and will next travel to Lawrence on May 17 for a 5 p.m.game.  Bangor falls to 3-4 with the loss. Next up is Brunswick on May 17, at home.  Most of this game was Brewer #13 and Bangor #13 battling to see who was going to carry their team to the win. In the end it was Brewer's Ryder Goodwin with a game high seven goals. Cole Dumond added four goals, and Aiden Davis with two. For Bangor their #13, Cooper Ireland

Lawrence downs Bangor 7-4 in girls Lacrosse

 BANGOR  – The Bangor girls lacrosse team hosted Lawrence at Cameron Stadium Friday night under the lights. While the very young rams played hard in the end it was Lawrence's game as they took the 7-4 win.  Bangor's Nuthi Ganesh picked up a loose ball on the run in front of Lawrence's Alicen Higgins. Bangor has just nine junior and seniors, they have a robust 15 freshmen and sophomores.  Lawrence on the other hand have just nine freshmen and sophomores while having 13 juniors and seniors.  Experience prevailed in this match. This was a fun game to watch. Up and down the field they went in non-stop action. Hampden softball rebounds from loss with an 18 hit attack on Lewiston

LEWISTON – The Hampden girls got back on track yesterday with a roaring 16-4 win over host Lewiston.   Hampden's Cam Neal went 4-4 Friday against Lewiston in an 16-4 win for the Broncos. (Photo by Ron Hawkes/MSR from a previous game.) The Broncos go to 7-3 with the win while Lewiston falls to 2-7 on the season. Hampden went to play and play they did with an 18-hit, 16-run, error free game for the 16-4 win. The Broncos pounded out seven extra base hits, three doubles, a tripe, and three home runs.  Hitting for Hampden were; Maya Brown (single, two runs); Allee Wellman (2 singles, run, 3 rbis); Danielle Masterson (2 doubles, three runs); Cam Neal (4for4, 3 singles, home run, four runs, 2 rbis); Meaghan Delahanty (single, triple, home run 2 runs, six rbis); Charlee Cute (single, home run, run, rbi); Callie Small (2 singles); Maddie Steigert (run); Emma Chute (single); and Kacey Gardner (double, 2 runs). Skowhegan hand Hampden Academy another 1-0 loss

 HAMPDEN – The Hampden Academy broncos hosted the Skowhegan Riverhawks in another close game, unfortunately for the Broncos, it was another 1-0 loss. The Broncos opened the season with a 1-0 loss to Skowhegan. Hampden's Meaghan Delahanty gets just under this pitch to foul it off.  HAMPDEN – The Broncos varsity softball team once again received outstanding pitching and clutch hitting to pick up a 4-2 win over Edward Little of Auburn Friday afternoon. Hampden's Cam Neal had the only Broncos extra base hit in today's game against Edward Little. Hampden won 4-2. Bangor girls, Brewer boys win Ram track meet

  BANGOR – The Bangor Rams track and field team hosted a meet Monday, May 2, at the beautiful Cameron Stadium.  Schools from, Bangor, Brewer, John Bapst, Bangor Christian and Penquis Valley competed in the meet. The girls were won by Bangor with a score of 247.33, followed by Brewer 91; John Bapst 39.66; Bangor Christian 2; and Penquis Valley 1. For the boys, Brewer took first place with a score of 152; followed by Bangor with 122.50; John Bapst 62.50; and Bangor Christian 18.
