The Baltimore Orioles had a manager years ago named Earl Weaver and one of his most famous quotes was ""The key to winning baseball games is pitching, fundamentals, and three run homers."

Well, the Broncos got all of that Wednesday night. A three run home run in the top of the first from Cam Neal, and after the first inning the pitching and fundamentals came into play allowing the Broncos to capture another win.

Danielle Masterson was in the circle for Hampden. After a couple of games off Masterson was a little shaky in the first inning allowing two hits and two runs, one earned. After that the Broncos put it all together with Masterson going seven innings allowing two runs, one earned, on, three hits with three walks and 15 strikeouts.

At the plate for Hampden were, Maya Brown (3 singles, 2 runs); Allee Wellman (2singles, 2 runs);  Masterson (2singles, 2runs, 3RBIs); Neal (HR, double, single, 3runs, 4RBIs); Meaghan Delahanty (2singles); Charlee Chute (single, RBI); Emily Bishop (single); and Brooklyn Fortin (single).

Morgan Downs got the start in the circle for the Witches going 5.1 innings allowing eight runs, six earned on 13 hits, with three walks and four strikeouts. She allowed one home run. L. Stewart finished the game going 1.2 innings, allowing one run, on three hits, with no walks or strikeouts.

Brewer struggled at the plate after the first inning getting just one hit in the final six. Hannah Reed (double, run); Jose Pece (single); and Downs (single).

Hampden goes to 10-3 on the season while Brewer falls to 3-10.

The Broncos will next host Camden Hills in a double header June 1. One was supposed to be an away game, and will be played at Hampden Academy. These are the final two regular season games of the season for the Broncos. Hampden is in fifth place in the Heal Point Standings with Brunswick in first at 13-1.

Brewer will play Oxford Hills away on Friday, May 27, at 4 p.m. and will finish the regular season against Bangor on June 1. The Witches are in seventh place in the Heal Point Standing this morning.
