Winslow ends Hermon softball season in North Class B Regional Final

 BREWER – The Class D, C, and B Regional Finals for softball were all played Saturday at Brewer High School on Coffin Field.  Hermon's Katie Fowler with the pitch! The Hawks lost the Class B Regional title to Winslow Saturday at Coffin Field in Brewer. (Photo by Ron Hawkes/MSR) On the day there were three shutouts, Class C started the day with #2 Mattanacook defeating #5 Orono 10-0.  In the second game of the day, Class D #3 Hodgdon squeezed past #8 Machias 2-0. And the night game for Class B saw #8 Winslow defeat another higher seed beating #6 Hermon 3-0. In the Hermon-Winslow game Emma Michaud went the distance in the circle for the Black Raiders of Winslow. She pitched seven innings allowing just three hits and three walks while fanning 12 in the win. At the plate for Winslow, Leah Knight (2singles, 2 runs); Kate Nichols (single, run); Harly Pomerleau (single, RBI); Michaud (RBI); and Kaci Fortin (single). No. 6 Hermon softball eliminates #11 Oceanside in Round of 16

Hermon –The Hermon girls relied on their pitching and solid defense to take a lead and hold it, giving up just one run in the top of the seventh as the Hawks take a 4-1 win over the Mariners of Rockland. The Hermon Hawks storm the field to start the Round of 16 play-in Game with Oceanside of Rockland. The Hawks took the 4-1 win to advance. Hermon will next either be on the road at #3 Mount Desert Island or hosting #14 Foxcroft Academy as they take on the winner of that game. Oceanside finishes its season at 5-12 with the loss.  In the circle for Hermon, freshman Katie Fowler got the start going three innings allowing just two hits, no walks, while striking out two. Fowler threw 27 pitches, 20 for strikes. Junior Lyndsee Reed pitched four to finish the game. Lawrence downs Bangor 7-4 in girls Lacrosse

 BANGOR  – The Bangor girls lacrosse team hosted Lawrence at Cameron Stadium Friday night under the lights. While the very young rams played hard in the end it was Lawrence's game as they took the 7-4 win.  Bangor's Nuthi Ganesh picked up a loose ball on the run in front of Lawrence's Alicen Higgins. Bangor has just nine junior and seniors, they have a robust 15 freshmen and sophomores.  Lawrence on the other hand have just nine freshmen and sophomores while having 13 juniors and seniors.  Experience prevailed in this match. This was a fun game to watch. Up and down the field they went in non-stop action.
