Bangor comes out on top of goal fest in season opener

BANGOR – The season opener and 21 goals are scored by the two teams. Thirteen for Bangor and eight for the visiting Oxford Hills. If you were watching and offense is your things these teams would have made your day.

The play was pretty even up and down the field at Cameron Stadium other than Bangor was more aggressive in attacking the goal. This help create some very hard shots on the other end that Oxford Hills keeper Troy Edmunds was unable to stop. Bangor also had some nice coverage of the goal area and that made a difference in the scoring for the visitors.

Scoring for Bangor was Jack Johnson with 15 shots on goal, six goals, two assists and three ground balls; Richard Trot IV had four shots, two goals, four assists and three ground balls; Cole Mazzei had seven shots, two goals, one assist, and one ground ball; Ethan DeMerchant had one shot, two assists and three ground balls; Josh Ryan had five shots on goal, and picked up 10 ground balls; Cooper Ireland had eight shots on goal, three goals, two assists, and two ground balls.

In all the Rams picked up 54 ground balls. Committed 11 penalties and keeper Matt Shayne had five saves.

For Oxford Hills, Derrick Brooks had five goals; Nick Bancroft two; and Owen Marr one. 

Oxford Hills committed four penalties. No other stats were available.
